House Chairman's Blog - March 2017
Good day to one and all,
It’s only been a week or so and I am still getting to understand everything but pleased we are moving slowly in the right direction.
Drive In, Ladies Past Captains Lunch and recently, Mothering Sunday all went well and good reviews on the quality of the food and the presentation all got good reviews.
Look out for some initiatives coming soon with the likes of a taster evening – where our Head and Sous Chefs demonstrate their skills to be creative in what we offer.
Plans are underway to have a Jazz Luncheon at some stage during the summer and a special family day too.
Overall our Sunday Lunches remain popular and it’s my intention to see how we can change and develop our offering to make us more interesting than the traditional Sunday Lunch.
The Bar and Cellar work has been concluded and the re-work was very much overdue and I thank everyone for their kind understanding during the refit. A special mention to Jack – who gave up so much of his personal time once again to help us through the fitting.
We will be having a new and better facility expected to be open and operational by the end of May. This is being funded through our Social Committee and will vastly improve the experience of the Half Way House. We will have to manage through whilst the changes and construction work is done. Please be patient and help us to help you.
RENOVATION – CONTINUES
Mick Newton -” the man with a big box of tools” will continue to refurbish areas of the club in need of. Thanks to his Father-in-Law and Eric Muir for assisting in the dining room refurbishment.
Our next project is the small hallway between the bar and toilets – and outside access area. Please bear with us whilst we undertake the work.
Finally and importantly we are mindful of the need to improve our Food and Hygiene rating. With the Bar work completed and Steve, Adam working through the list of improvements required we hope to see a positive amendment to this early April.
That’s about it for now and I hope you continue to support your food and beverage section and we too hope you have a fantastic year of Golf and Birstall Golf Club.
