Hello everyone and welcome to my Captain’s Blog for September; it’s been a busy month all round.

Firstly, I hope you all agree that Steve is successfully getting the catering side up to scratch. Christine and I attended Sunday lunch recently, followed by the ladies dining there during my recent Captain’s Weekend and this week I hosted the ladies exchange from Northampton Golf club. Personally, I feel the food has made considerable improvement overall.

I attended the Lady President’s Day and enjoyed a welcomed lunch. The day went well; thanks Carol for the lunch, it was most appreciated.

The Combined Team continues to fulfil its fixtures so thanks to Jim Smith for all your frustrating efforts.

Well done Michelle Lewin for organising and raising over £600 for the Lady Captain’s Charity Fashion show. The whole event, given your family circumstances on that day, was a complete success.

The Golf Course continues to improve and I truly realise the efforts of our Grounds Staff under the leadership of Chris.

Recently, I had my Captains Weekend – some interesting and fun times were had by all. Steve Brooks is maybe regretting his opportunity to play with me and I am amazed myself at our Golf Champion for the weekend, NR Jim Smith. Jim is renowned and recently just missed out on The Guinness Book of Records for putting more balls off the first tee onto the Steam Train than passengers carried. New names such as Connor (Conrad Brandt) and Brian Selby (Barry Selby) will be a constant sense of humour from the weekend too. Not to mention Friday Night’s draw!

Personally, I also want to thank Alice in our admin team – she was 100% efficient in helping me and I cannot express my appreciation for her efforts.

Finally, my Charity Swing night with all the great sounds of those magical artists (Bobby Darren, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin just to mention a few) takes place on Saturday 22nd October. Tickets are priced at £10 each with over 65’s reduced to £7.50. Please come and enjoy a memorable evening with artists supplied by Steve Brooks and some local talent that will bring back good memories.

Continue to enjoy your golf and support the club.
